"Over the course of three months I worked on a weaving that expressed my dissatisfaction with the way my life has played out.
I codified certain phrases that are often said to me as encouragement into block symbols that mimic the letters in those phrases. Those symbols were woven into the weaving whenever someone said any of those phrases to me.
I chose to leave the threads of these phrases untucked on the backside to emphasize the way these phrases linger in my mind for days or weeks after someone has said it. But ultimately the sentiment that prevails in my mind as time goes on is to not get my hopes up. Time is something that we all have a finite amount of, and it's not guaranteed that we’ll all live the life we want with the amount of time that we’re given."
